MAKING MOBILE THE DEFAULT CREDENTIAL WITH HID

African organisations are increasingly standardising on mobile credentials as a practical evolution of access control, not a future concept.

HID 2026 State of Security and Identity Report highlights that mobile credentials continue to be a top priority for security leaders globally, with a growing majority of organisations having already deployed mobile credentials or actively planning their rollout.

This trend is evident across EMEA, including Africa, and is especially relevant within the public sector, healthcare, education, transport, and critical infrastructure environments, where scalability, security, and operational efficiency are critical.

HID positions mobile credentials as a key enabler of software‑driven, unified security platforms, supporting:

  • Remote issuance and revocation
  • Faster onboarding and offboarding
  • Reduced reliance on physical cards
  • Improved security hygiene and control

The greatest value is achieved when mobile credentials move from being available to being the default credential.
